Around 25 minutes. Each screening is the same.

Please park using the complimentary valet. Cross the courtyard to the NeueHouse entrance (under the large NeueHouse sign). Please check in to get your name badge and a booklet. If a screening is being seated, you’ll be directed to the screening room. If a screening’s already in progress, please grab a drink and some food at the party upstairs. We’ll announce when the next screening is about to begin!

At the party, each rights holder will have a lounge area marked with a picture of their property. Please approach them – all speak English and/or have translators – or, if you prefer, ask someone from Amuse to introduce you!

J-CREATION – More news to come. Stay tuned!

Mission

J-CREATION is a year-round effort to bridge the gap between Japanese entertainment powerhouses and the US entertainment industry, facilitating the adaptation of Japanese IP into film, TV, and other business opportunities.

A cornerstone of this project is J-CREATION: A FIRST LOOK SHOWCASE.

Each year, a slate of up to 10 titles is presented at an exclusive event. Hollywood producers are given the unique opportunity to meet in person with the Japanese rights holders to discuss their projects.

Since its inception in 2016, J-CREATION has become a go-to event for both filmmakers and content holders, spawning several projects that are currently in development.

Past Events

Amuse Group USA hosted its first J-CREATION: A FIRST LOOK SHOWCASE on March 3, 2016, at the London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills. Content rights holders including leading Tokyo-based publishing companies, literary management agencies, and TV networks presented their titles at the event as guests of Amuse. The exclusive Japanese IP showcase event was the first of its kind.

For the second J-CREATION, the event was held at the historic Culver Studios lot on June 8, 2017. Japanese companies from the literary, film, TV, and management spheres presented their titles in front of a packed house of Hollywood producers and executives. Award-winning Japanese horror novelist Yumeaki Hirayama flew in from Japan for the event and was an instant hit with the American guests.

On June 14, 2018, Amuse Group USA held the third J-CREATION at NeueHouse Hollywood. With over 300 attendees from the US side alone, it was the biggest event yet. Guests were given exclusive sneak peeks to new projects from some of Japan’s top content holders, including publishers, TV networks, film studios, video game developers, and creators.

Each year, a diverse slate of properties are presented, spanning genres including science fiction, action, fantasy, thriller, horror, drama, and comedy.

Projects

Via J-CREATION and other Film/TV department activities, we have brought 50 Japanese IP to the attention of American buyers. We are in development on 20 projects with writers, producers, studios, and financiers.

Partners include Endeavor Content, Feigco, Global Road, Intrigue, Lionsgate Television, Penchant, producer Scott Kroopf, Sony Pictures Television, Vertigo, and more.

Consulting

The Film/TV department at Amuse Group USA also provides independent consulting services to American production companies. Utilizing our pipeline of established Japanese partners in the entertainment industry, we can identify IP and bring them to you, sometimes even before they’ve broken out of Japan. We also clarify IP rights and assist in cultural communication to cut through the confusion.

For Japanese media companies, we look to improve their American and global offerings. Whether you’re at the concept stage or have a produced IP you’d like to market properly at global events, Amuse USA can help.

One noted success is the TV Tokyo series Dead Stock, for which Amuse USA provided development consulting from concept through the script stages.

Dead Stock debuted in Japan in June 2017 and is currently being developed with an American studio for an English-language remake of the series.

Our staff is multiethnic and bilingual. Services can be performed in either or both languages. We bring over 35 years of collective experience with the American and Japanese film, TV, and new media industries.

Consulting services range widely:

  • Script translation, polish, and proofreading
  • One-sheet translation, polish, and proofreading
  • Website translation, polish, and proofreading
  • Subtitling
  • Trailer production
  • Film and TV series “suggested title” consulting
  • Film and TV series development: concept, outlining, scripts, rewriting
  • Business strategy: from individual projects to overall slates

Please inquire with info@us.amuse.co.jp regarding plans and rates.
